A 170-year-old renovated stone building has piqued the interest of buyers from all over Tasmania, Australia and overseas, too.

In the past, No.15 High St, Ross was the town’s Wesleyan Methodist Sunday School. Today, it presents as a sophisticated country home.

In its first week on the market, the single-bedroom stone home recorded a huge 12,000 views on realestate.com.au, making it the most-viewed home in Tasmania and No.3 nationwide.

Howell Property Group agent Nick Hay said his phone had rang off the hook since launch.

“When quality hits the market, people find a way to invest in the venture and No.15 High St is a property that appears to a lot of people,” he said.

“Simple, classy and historical.

“If you are going to move to the Midlands, it would be the quintessential property to move to.

“It is a historical Georgian brick and stone cottage, which has been beautifully restored.”

Mr Hay said among the flood of inquiries was an Aussie expat currently living in the United Arab Emirates, heaps of people that see it as a home and others who have identified Airbnb potential.

“A large percentage of the inquiries are people seeking to relocate to the district for a tree-change,” he said.

“The feedback has been phenomenal. People love the quality finishes and European-inspired touches, alongside the integrity of the original building.

“The restoration has been supported by the Ross community, especially the crew from the local Men’s Shed, and with advice from Heritage Tasmanian on how to best restore the property.”

This Heritage Listed gem seamlessly weaves historical authenticity into modern comfort.

A gravel drive bordered by established English box hedges leads to the property’s entrance, where a travertine front landing and wraparound patio offer the perfect spot for a morning coffee.

A mudroom provides a transitional space between the outdoors and the house’s main living room. Laid by hand, the brick flooring is as beautiful as it is practical.

The open-plan kitchen and living room features 3.6m high ceilings and Georgian-inspired timber panelling.

The kitchen features locally sourced timber cabinetry, quality cooking appliances and a gorgeous garden view.

The generously sized bedroom has bespoke floor-to-ceiling wardrobes and elegant William Morris wallpaper.

The well-designed bathroom showcases charming period fixtures, while a discreet, hidden door in the bedroom leads to a compact European laundry.

Set on a 1568sq m block, the property beckons outdoor enthusiasts, gardeners, or those dreaming of future expansions (STCA).

A giant elm tree stands proudly in the garden, providing shade during the height of summer and amber confetti in autumn.

There is a custom-designed Colorbond shed, complete with a blackwood deck and built-in wood storage.

This property would be ideal for those in search of a distinctive home or a boutique accommodation investment opportunity.

This captivating property extends an invitation to own a piece of Tasmania’s colonial history.
