VERNON, CT — A real estate listing is offering a sneak preview of what homes will resemble in a development across from Vernon Center Middle School.
The listing on Zillow, an online real estate portal, displays a three-bedroom, two bathroom home that measures 2,000 square feet with a price tag of $679,900. The listing offers 33 images, taken from another similar home, of what the finished product at 5 Peterson Road will look like.
It’s officially “for sale by owner,” according to the listing.
Construction on the first home has been ongoing.
The origins of the construction go back to July 2023, when two wooded parcels at the corner of West Street and Peterson Road were sold after sitting vacant for years. One parcel sat at 256 West St. and measures 1.15 acres and its price tag was $89,000. The other, officially unaddressed, sat next to it at 1.97 acres and was listed for $98,000. Then-listing agent Brenda Bourne of KW Legacy Partners, said the owners simply did not want to hold onto the land any longer.
In January, the purchaser, Vernon-based Boynton Construction, began clearing the land after four lots were approved by the Vernon Planning and Zoning Commission.
The development is being billed as “luxury homes” under the name “Garden Meadows.”
The lot for the first home is listed as measuring .73 acres, which is consistent with what each of the four homes would take up if the 3.12 acres were carved up about evenly.
Vernon Director of Development Services Shaun Gately said the homes will not require a new road and will have driveways with Peterson Road addresses, the first being No. 5.
The subdivision is in a convenient location — across West Street from the middle school, 0.4 miles from Center Road School and 2.1 miles from Rockville High School. The protected Strong Farm sits across Peterson Road from it, which is next door to the Vernon Police Department and the ambulance complex.
Here’s more from the listing:
The ranch-style layout offers the convenience of first-floor living, with an open floor plan that seamlessly blends functionality and style, making it perfect for both entertaining and everyday life. The custom kitchen is a true showstopper, featuring hardwood floors, detailed trim, and high-end finishes that make cooking a joy. I also love the practicality of the walk-in laundry room and spacious walk-in closets, as well as the ample storage throughout, including additional linen and closet space. The cozy gas fireplace adds warmth and charm to the living area, while the dedicated home office provides a stylish and functional retreat for work or study. The beauty of new construction is another standout feature—everything is fresh, modern, and thoughtfully designed, with no need for updates or renovations. Outside, the stunning meadow views and breathtaking evening sunsets create a serene and peaceful setting. With a two-car garage, full basement, and modern utilities like well water, city sewer, and natural gas, this home perfectly balances sophistication, comfort, and convenience.
