Building trades students will build 14 homes on vacant property

The property at 2900 Dauer Street in the east central part of Midland was sold by Midland Public Schools to Midland County Habitat for Humanity for $250,000, and the sale was recorded at Midland County Register of Deeds on Jan. 12.

On Oct. 28, 2025, the Midland Planning Commission approved a plan for 14 single-family homes to be built on that vacant property, which was previously the site of Ashman School, later called the Franklin Center, a building that was demolished in 2020. The homes will be built by Midland Public Schools building trades students in partnership with Habitat for Humanity.
